Mark 6:30-32 & Exodus 20:8-11
God says to us, "even if you CAN fit more in your life, you still need to trust Me and take a rest.”
Many of you have lost your “hard boundaries” and have failed to rest. You’ve just keep filling in the “rest” spaces in your life until eventually there wasn’t any more space left to fill. And then, “it” happened. What was “it”?
For some of you it was a heart attack. For others it was a spouse leaving, blowing up at work or on your kids.
What you really needed to be doing is finding time to REST, to SABBATH, just one day a week, just to let you soul recharge, to find a break from the pressures.
You can’t go back and change the past but here’s what you can do in the future: you PRIORITIZE and take your sabbath. You find some “breathing room”. You chill. You rest.
And when the next week comes and it brings even more pressures? You take your sabbath and find that necessary relief.
Remember, just because you CAN handle more pressure (you’re tough enough, strong enough, brave enough…) doesn’t mean you should. Especially, if it comes at the expense of your SOUL, your SABBATH.
So, let’s get this chill party started! Here’s what I’m praying you’ll do: take your rest, your sabbath, each week. Remember, your Heavenly Father says, “I want you to take a day each week to rest. I’ll provide for you. It doesn’t have to make sense. This is how you’re going to learn to TRUST me.”
God commands His people and to make sabbath a part of their normal cycle of life. Allow your Heavenly Father to help you find some relief from those pressures.
Close your time in prayer.
