How’s your heart this morning?  Are you ready to hear from Him?  Take a moment to prepare your heart.  Then, when you feel ready, read the devotional below.

Exodus 34:6-7 & Deuteronomy 24:16

What are we supposed to do about that part that says “Yahweh punishes the kids for their parents sin?”  First of all, God is NOT saying, “if Grandma cheats on her taxes, he’s going to take it out on little Johnny.” So what IS He saying?  Yahweh is saying, “the parent’s sin has consequences for the children’s future.”  And this makes sense for us doesn’t it?  For example. if dad and mom run a meth lab and are arrested by the police and land in jail, it’s the children who will suffer the most.  They’ll end up in foster care without the family God intended.  If they don’t end up in a good home, they could be dumped on the street at 18. Even if they end up in a good family, even a Jesus-following family, then will still enter adulthood with with handicap of their parent’s mistakes.

How does the definition of “generational sins” above influence or even change your view of God?  What do you sense Him speaking to you right now?  How is He calling you to respond?
