What thoughts are dominant in your mind right now?  What is distracting you?  Bring those to God now and ask Him to focus your heart to hear from you.

Exodus 34:7

I know what you’re thinking (or your neighbors, co-workers, atheist/agnostic friends…):  “How can God be ‘compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in love and faithfulness’ if He goes MMA on KIDS?”  Well, to truly understand what this passage means, you have to start with the beginning when God says, “I forgive iniquity, rebellion, and sin.” (Exodus 34:7) Notice, it’s not just that God forgives, it’s that He is FORGIVING.  Forgiveness flows from Yahweh’s inner being, His essence, the deepest, truest part of His character.  It’s like Yahweh is itching to forgive.  He’s constantly looks around asking, “who can I forgive today?”  It’s who He IS.

Forgiveness can be a touchy subject to address, especially if we’ve done something we consider especially heinous.  Yet today’s passage shares a truth that can absolutely change you.  Your Heavenly Father can’t wait to forgive YOU.   What do you sense your Heavenly Father speaking to you?  How is He calling you to respond?
