God is with you now. His promise is that He will never leave you or forsake you (Heb. 13:5). Dwell on that promise and when you have sensed His Presence, read the passage below using your Bible Study Insert.
“…the Lord made a covenant with Abram…” — Genesis 15:18
The most serious commitment I made on this earth took place 16 years ago when I stood before God, friends and family and promised to love my wife and live with her in the state of holy matrimony from now until the day I die. That’s a BIG commitment! According to the Bible, I entered into the “covenant” of marriage with Ragan.
In today’s passage we see another “covenant”. But this idea of “covenant” between God and Abraham doesn’t shock us as much as it should because “covenant” isn’t a word we hear much anymore so we lack the understanding of how incredible of a thing this is. God wants to initiate a covenant with Abraham. A covenant is a way to establish a binding relationship, where none existed before, based on faithfulness to a solemn vow. God—the God of the universe—chose to enter into a relationship with Abraham. And He wants to do the same with you too.
What is God speaking to your heart about this subject right now? Listen intently. Don’t rush. How is He calling you to respond? Will you respond to His Voice?
