What thoughts are dominant in your mind right now? What is distracting you? Bring those to God now and ask Him to focus your heart to hear from you. After you sense a focus on Him, read the passage below using your Bible Study Insert.
“…the Son of Man [Jesus] came to seek and save those who are lost.” — Luke 19:10
It would have been easy for Jesus to blast people for their mistakes. He had more right than anyone to take a political and moral stand, to picket on the street, form protests, and publicly attack individuals.
Yet we read that Jesus saw people as sheep that had been bruised, beaten, and thrown around.
Rather than being filled with disdain, He was filled with love and compassion. How different that was from the religious people of Jesus’ day. You see, Simon and the Pharisees message was very clear: “change and you can join us” (see Luke 7:36-50). The Pharisees had it so backwards. But one of my favorite things about Jesus is He completely flipped the script.
Jesus didn’t say, “change and you can join me.” He said, “join me and you will be changed.”
What is God speaking to your heart about right now? How do you need to respond?
