“A new command I give you:  Love one another.  As I have loved you, so you must love one another.  By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
John 13: 34-35

Serving Our World

Both locally and abroad, the Glendale Nazarene Church seeks to respond to God’s call to reach out to others with the love of Jesus.  It is our desire to extend hope and healing to our world by meeting the tangible and spiritual needs of those we serve.

Crisis Care Kits:
In the Crisis Care Kit ministry, individual Nazarene churches partner together with Nazarene Missions and Nazarene Compassionate Ministries to bring help and hope in times of crisis to places all over the world. Belize, California, Dominican Republic, Philippines, Jordan, Ukraine, and Zambia are just a few of the places we have been able to make a difference in the lives of others through this ministry. When you put a kit together, you are extending the love of Jesus to others in desperate situations. Each Kit contains a variety of items designed to meet the most basic needs. The Crisis Care Kit Box inventory and assembly directions can be found by clicking here:
Crisis Care Kits (Coming Soon!).
Kits may be dropped off in the Church Office or at the Missions Center in the Church Commons.

Missional Offerings include:

World Evangelism Fund:
The World Evangelism Fund is a cooperative effort of the Nazarene churches to accomplish the Great Commission - making Christ-like disciples in the nations. The money received for this fund goes to pay for the salaries of the Missionaries, along with their medical insurance, pension provision, and other items such as housing and travel costs. Monies for this fund are collected in three ways:
  1. Thanksgiving Offering
  2. Easter Offering
  3. Faith Promise: a yearly financial promise, made in the Spring, to give a one-time or monthly gift that goes specifically towards missions and fulfilling the Great Commission. It is an offering above and beyond an individual’s regular tithe.
Alabaster Offering:
The Alabaster offering is collected through individuals placing their loose change in an Alabaster box. On Alabaster Sundays in February and September, the boxes are collected in the Sunday worship service. The entire offering goes toward the construction of churches, schools, medical facilities, and homes for missionaries and national workers. Alabaster boxes may be picked up in the Mission Center in the Church Commons.

LINKS: “Loving, Interested Nazarenes, Knowing and Sharing”
The LINKS program is a network of personal connections between missionaries and the local churches around the world. Relationships are established that allow each church the opportunity to become personally acquainted with a missionary family and their field of service. Offerings for LINKS go toward packages, cash gifts, cards, and other remembrances for the missionary family. Contributions toward the LINKS ministry may be made “on-line” or during worship services when designated “LINKS.”

30-Hour Famine:
The 30-Hour Famine puts hands and feet to the desire to help students live a life of Christian compassion.
Each year, the Glendale Nazarene youth raise money through donors and sponsors to help the millions of starving and hurting children in some of the world's poorest countries, offering them a hope they could not otherwise have. The group then goes 30 hours without food, so that they can have a real taste of what hunger is like. During this time they engage in different activities, from community service projects to volunteer work, to study. Afterwards the money raised is sent in to World Vision, and is put it to work in areas like Malawi, Swaziland, North Korea, and here in the United States.
