Serving our Community:

Both locally and abroad, the Glendale Nazarene Church seeks to respond to God’s call to reach out to others with the love of Jesus. It is our desire to extend hope and healing to our world by meeting the tangible and spiritual needs of those we serve.

Food Pantry:
Every night thousands of families go to bed hungry. In economically-challenging times, it is more important than ever that those of us who can give do so as much as we can to help those around us. The GNAZ Food Pantry supplies those in need with food and other sundries. Click here to view a list of needs. (COMING SOON!)

Benevolence Fund:
Benevolence is defined as "...an inclination to do good; kindliness. A kindly, charitable act." At Glendale Nazarene Church, the Benevolence Fund has been established as a way for the church to respond to the immediate, tangible needs of the community. Monies donated to the Benevolence Fund are used for various charitable acts, including gift cards for gas or food, food boxes, clothes, and toys for children, especially during Thanksgiving and Christmas. Please click on the “Giving” link to donate on-line, or label your offering as “Benevolence” during our Worship services.

Bibles:
The Word of God is a life-giving source. Therefore, as we reach out into the community, it is important that we be able to share that life with others. If you would like to be a part of making a difference in the life of others, you may consider donating a Bible. Recovery Bibles and the New Living Translation Bibles are used for the incarcerated community and others with limited resources. Bibles can be donated in the church office.

Homeless Outreach:
“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’” “The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’”

Along with the Food Pantry, one of the ways we seek to serve the homeless community is to provide clothing and basic toiletry items. Donations of these items can be made to the church office and will then be taken out to the homeless communities and distributed.

Thanksgiving Food Boxes:
Each year at Thanksgiving, we prepare and deliver boxes of food to those in need. Each box contains a turkey, as well as all the traditional sides. The goal is to bless and provide for those who would not otherwise have the resources to share a holiday meal. It is an opportunity to express our “thanks” by “giving.” See the attached list for items to donate. Monetary donations should be labeled “Thanksgiving Outreach,” and can be made “on-line” or during worship services. (Attach the following list on a different page:)
Thanksgiving Boxes: Pack List
  • Turkey
  • Turkey Gravy
  • Canned Green Beans
  • Canned Corn
  • Canned Cranberry Sauce
  • Canned Sweet Potatoes
  • Onion Topping
  • Boxed Instant Mashed Potatoes
  • Rolls or Bread
  • Boxed Stuffing
  • Cream of Mushroom Soup
  • Pies or Dessert
Adopt-a-Family:
At Christmas time each year, we take the opportunity to be the tangible expression of God’s promise of a hope and a future to our neighbors. In adopting-a-family, you supply a food box and/or giftcard for a grocery store, as well as gifts for the children of the family adopted. This is a chance to experience the true meaning of Christmas. For details on how to adopt-a-family, email Pastor Jaime at jwaldron@gnaz.org. Monetary donations can be made in place of adopting a family and would allow for food and gifts to still be purchased and distributed as needed. You may give “online” or during worship services. Donations should be labeled “Christmas Outreach.”
