Community
I am looking forward to the last Sunday of August. On the 29th we will celebrate community. We will combine the two services and enjoy fellowship as One church. I have prepared a message from Acts 2.
At Pentecost, the Holy Sprit filled the believers and out of that the church was launched. We will learn about that first church and celebrate it with inspirational music. We will also enjoy getting acquainted with each other. I originally was going to start the service at 10:00 am, but because we are having so many guests coming at the 10:45 hour, I didn’t want to risk them missing our combined service. Therefore I have scheduled our Community service at 10:45. Mark this on your calendar and let us plan a wonderful day of celebrating our Lord.
PUSH
Our summer theme PUSH will wrap up on the 29th with a day of celebrating Community. My hopes that many of you have stayed true to your commitment of fasting and praying. I found that giving up my orange Sunkist wasn’t as hard as I thought. While I would like to have one in the near future, I don’t have to. In fact, I have given up my Coke Zero and my McDonald’s chocolate ice cream. I didn’t give these up as a sacrifice, but to try and lose some weight. But, I found it interesting that when you stop some habits that you have stronger will power than you may realize.
This summer we saw many miracles. Our finances improved, two ladies at the beginning of the summer were healed and several have sought a deeper work of God’s grace through sanctification and have found His joy. We have several new families that started attending GNAZ this summer. Almost weekly we witness a new convert to the kingdom. Some have new jobs. Three families were able to find a home within their price range to rent.
I contribute these victories to Him and am thrilled at how many people are committed to PUSH and to hear of the results. TO GOD BE THE GLORY.
Home Coming
Our Virginia Carrier finally got what she often talked about. She would tell many of us that she was ready to be home with her Lord and looked forward to that day. In fact, she was relentless about this. She got her wish on Saturday and I can only imagine what her homecoming must have been like.
I called Virginia, “Saint Virginia”. While she certainly had some strong opinions about things and wasn’t afraid to share them, she was also one of the most Godly ladies I have ever met. Her prayers were felt because she prayed from her heart. She knew how to pray the glory down.
We will miss her. One of her daughters called about having a Memorial service on Saturday September 4th. As soon as I have more details, I will let you all know.
Dr. Baker’s seminar
Dr. Baker has a 4 day seminar that starts this Thursday night. It is not too late for you to sign up. For more details contact the office.
Connect Team
Maybe you have noticed a few of us have been greeting people outside. I jokingly say we are sweating for Jesus. This has been one of the most enjoyable things I have done in awhile. It’s fun to do ministry with others, but it is also a joy to greet and meet our regular folks and our guests.
We don’t want to keep this joy of sharing just for us. If you are interested in joining my connect team and greeting once every 6 weeks, let me know. You will have the time of your life. In fact, I call it sweating for Jesus. I get so hot outside that I am not only sweating for Jesus, I am losing weight. It has turned out to be a diet ministry too.
Thrilled Dad
I had the chance to introduce my new daughter-in-law on Sunday. I am thrilled to death to have two fine young ladies married to my sons. I am thrilled I will also be a new grand-pop. I am ready to see if what I heard is true. I have been told that many would have been a grandparent first if they would have known how much more fun it was than being a parent. I will soon find out.
May God bless and keep you this week.
You are loved.
